Pheasant Habitat "Worth Having a Few Weeds Again"

"Being able to improve my old CRP grass stands by disking and interseeding legumes (CRP mid-contract management) has been a big help," said Dale Clark, CRP landowner from Stanton County. "Before that, I didn't really have anything for habitat. I decided having pheasants around was worth having a few weeds again."

Stanton followed procedures recommended by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Pheasants Forever to improve the land he originally enrolled in CRP as Permanent Introduced Grasses. He disked the monoculture cover, sowed legumes suitable for wildlife in the area, and watched the results grow.

Dale Clark is pleased with the pheasant habitat results achieved by performing mid-contract management to upgrade his CRP grass cover.
