"CRP has been our salvation due to high water and saturated crop fields" in the 1990's, said Moody County landowner, Shirley Harrington-Moore. "CRP is an excellent program for farmers who could not get a good crop on a regular basis to pay for land and taxes.
Ms. Harrington-Moore and her family have enrolled approximately 100 acres in CRP and installed the Wetland Restoration practice. Other acreage on the farm is enrolled in another USDA program, the Wetland Restoration Program.
Ms. Harrington-Moore is very excited about the different types of wildlife that benefit from the CRP acreage. The acreage provides great hunting opportunities for family and friends.
She is very concerned about owners on adjacent farms removing trees and breaking out grassland in order to farm more acres.
Landowner Shirley Harrington-Moore is pleased with the wildlife habitat created when she established 100 acres of CRP Wetland Restoration.
High water and saturated fields made the decision to enroll this cropland in CRP a wise management move.
