Wildlife "Guzzle" Water in Guzzlers

A guzzler is one who drinks plentifully. In arid southeastern Wyoming, those guzzlers, thankfully, are wildlife and their water source is also called guzzlers. Farmers here have installed 40 guzzlers on CRP tracts to provide wildlife with a permanent, reliable water source. Aprons catch limited precipitation and fill 450- to 2,000-gallon tanks. Wildlife that rely on guzzlers include pronghorn antelope, mule and white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and mourning doves. State and private groups help provide funding to install the guzzlers.
