For Immediate Release January 22, 2013 Contact: FSA Website: http://www.fsa.usda.gov/ne 2013 USDA Farm Program Sign-up Announced (LINCOLN, NE) January 22 – "The sign-up period for the 2013 Direct and Counter-cyclical Program (DCP) and Average Crop Revenue Election Program (ACRE) will begin Tuesday, February 19, 2013," announced Farm Service Agency State Director Dan Steinkruger. "These programs were extended for 2013 by the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 signed earlier this month by President Obama." Under these programs eligible farmers and landowners will receive direct payments and other safety net protection afforded under the programs. The ACRE sign-up ends June 3, 2013. The DCP sign-up ends August 2, 2013. The 2013 DCP and ACRE program provisions are unchanged from 2012, except that all eligible participants in 2013 may choose to enroll in either DCP or ACRE for the 2013 crop year. This means that eligible producers who were enrolled in ACRE in 2012 may elect to enroll in DCP in 2013 or may re-enroll in ACRE in 2013 (and vice versa). FSA is also making plans to implement the extended Milk Income Loss Contract Program (MILC) and Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) that were extended one year under the Act. Additional information on these programs will be announced in the future. Steinkruger noted, "Our Nebraska FSA Offices are making preparations to complete this sign-up during this short time period. Farmers and landowners will now be able to complete their 2013 farm program planning by considering their 2013 farm program options." USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer. |
