Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Visit New Hampshire Greenhouse, Highlight Efforts to Create Unlimited Opportunity, Jobs in Rural America

WASHINGTON, March 11, 2013 – This WEDNESDAY, March 13, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will tour New Hampshire’s Pleasant View Gardens and highlight Department efforts to make rural America a magnet for jobs. The Secretary will discuss USDA’s goals in 2013 to open new markets and create new opportunity in rural America.

Pleasant View Gardens recently received a USDA grant and loan guarantee to install a biomass wood fired boiler system to heat their commercial greenhouses. Efforts such as these reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil and ensuring sustainable future economic growth for the business and local economy.

Since 2009, USDA has invested in more than 50 New Hampshire renewable energy loans and grants to help rural farmers, ranchers and rural businesses save money and conserve energy.
