Construction & Assembly Phase

Purpose

The Construction and Assembly phase focuses on transforming the design into a working system that satisfies all the requirements. Any special procedures for data conversion and/or data warehousing will also be developed and tested during this phase.

What To Do

During this phase, the development team will:

  • Application Security - Identify the construction level security vulnerabilities of the application and incorporate measures to appropriately handle them.
  • Build the System - Generate the deployment unit and build plan, ensure all subsystem dependencies are addressed and request the implementation of (or changes to) the physical database.
  • Test the System - Develop and execute the required tests as defined in the Test Strategy and Test Cases.
  • Document the System - Create the user guide, deployment guide, release notes, developer guide, java docs and any other project specific documentation.

Database Management Office (DBMO)

Interaction with the DBMO will likely occur during every phase of the SDLC. During this phase the DBMO may be contacted to assist with writing SQL for triggers. They may also be utilized to support the development team in assuring the input/output feeder interfaces are accounted for in the construction. Additionally, they may be contacted because columns, tables, databases, indexes, and constraints may need to be created, modified, and/or deleted as construction moves from development to testing.

Certification & Accreditation (C&A)

C&A documentation to consider during this phase: Preliminary Disaster Recovery Plan, Risk Assessment, Trusted Facility Manual, Security Features User Guide.

Contact the Information Security Office for further details regarding specific efforts relevant to this phase of the SDLC.

Records Management

During the Construction and Assembly Phase all records schedules should be submitted to NARA. For more information visit the FSA Records Management Web Site
