The FSA Enterprise Architecture (EA) focuses on leveraging the investment in legacy systems and driving the design of emerging farm programs. The EA enables leverage of the existing systems that FSA has in place, built separately by Centers and Programs over several decades. The FSA EA and the associated reference models mold these systems into an integrated or federated infrastructure aligned with the mission and business needs of the Agency. The model of the to-be state is based on a service-oriented architecture that allows for services provided by any of the following approaches:

The FSA EA provides a mission-driven approach to designing, implementing, partnering or procuring new information technology systems and services. The true value of EA is achieved when the architecture increases FSA's ability to deliver on core missions. The FSA information technology systems and the EA exist to support the vision presented in the FSA strategic Plan, the core missions, and major goals of the Agency. FSA Enterprise Architecture Program - Provides information about FSA's Enterprise Architecture Program. This section describes the drivers, methodology, roles and responsibilities for EA activities

FSA Enterprise Architecture - Provides information about FSA's business, performance, service, data and technical architectures, including reusable services and components.

FSA Infrastructure - Provides information about FSA Infrastructure policies and guidelines.

The FSA Enterprise Architectural Program is a strategic and integral part of Information Technology (IT) governance and management as prescribed by Federal Enterprise Architecture directives and the USDA Enterprise Architecture program.
