This project area is located in all or part of Clay, Craighead, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Mississippi, Poinsett, and Randolph counties in the State of Arkansas. This project will support production of the perennial miscanthus giganteus (Giant Miscanthus) for energy biomass. Only the planting of rhizomes of the “Illinois Clone” a sterile cultivar of Giant Miscanthus is authorized for this project area.

FSA will allocate up to $1.35 million for implementation of this project area in FY 2012. The target for enrollment in FY2012 is 1,200 acres, bringing the project area cap to 7,788 acres and a total BCAP investment of $7.125 million.
