Since 1996, the Coordinator for African-American Outreach has been an integral part of USDA/FSA efforts to better serve African-American farmers and ranchers. Increasing access to funding and other programs as well as representation on County Committees, are the primary objectives of our outreach efforts. However, this mission can only be accomplished when USDA officials make a commitment to provide better coordination and administering of internal and external outreach programs/initiatives. The creation of an Outreach staff in the FSA Administrators office clearly demonstrates a commitment to this mission. Yet, there is so much more to be done.
The African-American Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing programs which primarily serve the following groups:
- 1994 Land Grant Institutions
- Community-Based Organizations
- 1890 Land Grant Institutions
- 1862 Land Grant Institutions

In addition to advising senior FSA officials on Outreach issues, the African-American Outreach Coordinator works with many diverse community organizations, local, state and federal governments and Congressional staffs, to ensure the timely delivery of technical and program information as well as information about current outreach initiatives.
