CRP Public Service Announcement :60 (less) A Walk in the Woods Grandchild and grandfather are taking a walk through the woods, chatting as they walk. Grandpa: Takes a deep breath and smiles. Grandchild: What ‘cha doin’ grandpa? Grandpa: Just taking in the clean, fresh air. Child: Fresh air – what’s the big deal about fresh air? Everywhere you go there’s air. Grandpa: Oh, but not fresh air like this. Child: What’s so special about this air? Grandpa: Oh child, you wouldn’t know anything about that – you’re much too young. Well, I can remember back in my day when this area was full of dust. We had what, what you might call, dust storms. The wind would blow the dirt so much that the air was full of dust. Couldn’t see a thing! But now, now we’ve turned things around – partly because of the conservation reserve program. Child: The what? Grandpa: The Conservation Reserve Program. It’s the silver lining for our clean water and fresh air, the good soil we have now to plant our food, and the wildlife you see running around in these woods. Yes, C.R.P. – definitely a silver lining.
