Message from the State Executive Director

Welcome to the Iowa State Farm Service Agency (FSA) website. Our primary mission is to help Iowa's farmers and ranchers secure the highest possible financial assistance from USDA programs and play a vital role to the economic survival of Iowa's rural communities.

Iowa FSA is proud to continue its strong tradition of providing customer-based service to Iowa's producers.

Best Wishes,
Derryl McLaren

On March 22, 2007, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced a new initiative to allow FSA State Offices to address local wildlife conservation needs. SAFE allows producers to install practices that benefit high priority State wildlife conservation objectives through the use of targeted restoration of vital habitat. This cooperative conservation effort is based on locally developed conservation proposals that address the highest priority wildlife objectives in the State before the practice may be implemented. The proposals will be considered by FSA State Committee (STC) after a review by the State Technical Committee. The FSA National Office will review all STC recommendations.

The Iowa State Farm Service Agency (FSA) annually establishes prices for agricultural commodities that serve as a general guide for completing farm business planning. For the 2008 production cycle, corn and soybean prices are based on a model that allows flexibility in adapting to changing markets while also recognizing we are experiencing unusually high corn and soybean markets. This model establishes planning prices based on November/December 2008 CBOT futures contracts, historical price levels, and USDA target prices. The formula for establishing current and typical year suggested prices is included in Iowa Notice FLP 07-04. The IA FSA Corn & Soybean Price Update will be updated at the beginning of each week to reflect planning prices that should be used as a general guide for farm business planning involving FSA guaranteed loan customers. Contact your local Farm Loan Manager for additional information or for a copy of Iowa Notice FLP 07-04.
