FSA outreach coordinators work closely with partners: community-based and non-governmental organizations, grower councils, associations and cooperatives, as well as 1862, 1890, and 1994 Land Grant Colleges and Universities and other USDA agencies to target technical assistance, training, and program assistance to underserved communities.

With the help of those partners, during FY 2012, FSA offices conducted outreach to over 4 million people nationwide! Those activities included:

Conference workshops/Seminars designed to assist minority farmers improve farm income through farm programs , price supports , disaster assistance , energy and conservation programs ;

Field days with local extension services and farm safety groups to educate youth on agriculture and FSA loans for rural youth ;

Loan webinars on FSA’s direct lending programs for eligible farmers and ranchers who are unable to obtain conventional credit;

County Committee Election Informational meetings with producers and community partners to encourage minority participation in the FSA County Committee Election process.

Individual technical assistance to ensure program access and understanding of eligibility requirements to enroll in farm programs .

Partnerships with members of the underserved and minority groups, community based organizations, community leaders, congressional leaders, educational institutions, and other federal agencies are encouraged and supported.

Representation from the targeted groups, in FSA County Office Committee nominations and elections is achieved.
