Volcanic Smog Shutting Down Some Hawaii Farmers

The Associated Press reported that sulfur dioxide from volcanoes on Hawaii is shutting down small farms and nurseries located in rural areas on the largest island. The gas, which creates volcanic smog when mixed with sunlight and air, threatens the viability of some area flower and vegetable crops. Sulfur dioxide volumes in Hawaii have recently reached records highs.
