About
George Turner, Jr. was appointed by the Trump Administration in August 2025 to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Maryland.
In 1983, Turner started his career with USDA at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, now known as FSA. He served as the county executive director in Worcester County, Maryland, where he administered federal farm programs to local farmers for 14 years. In 1998, he became a district director providing oversight, training, and guidance to FSA county office employees on commodity and farm loan programs.
Throughout his 41 years of service, Turner has played a key role at the national level, serving as a mentor and coordinator for the National District Director Mentoring Program. He also contributed to the development of the Leadership for Excellence Program for program technicians and was responsible for leading teams for the National Leadership Training Program. His dedication and leadership have been recognized through three FSA Administrator’s Awards and an Under Secretary’s Award.
Turner is a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture.
He is a lifelong resident of Worcester County, Maryland, where he was raised surrounded by agriculture. He grew up helping his family and friends on their corn, soybean and poultry operations - an experience that continues to inspire his commitment to serving agricultural producers in Maryland.
Outside of his professional career, Turner enjoys golfing, cycling, and snow skiing.
