Wilmer Stoneman was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Virginia in November 2025.

Prior to his appointment, Stoneman worked for the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation where he served as vice president of Agriculture Development and Innovation and executive director of the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture, Innovation and Rural Sustainability, a team that fosters sustainable agricultural economic development opportunities that empower farmers, agribusinesses and their communities. He started his career with the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation in 1995 as an assistant director in the Public Affairs Department and was later promoted to associate director of governmental Relations before serving as vice president. In 2025, he was honored with the Distinguished Service to Farm Bureau award.

Earlier in his career, Stoneman worked for the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Division of Soil and Water Conservation where he provided nutrient management guidance to farmers in the Piedmont region. He was also a conservation specialist for the Hanover-Caroline and Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District where he helped producers achieve conservation goals.

As a leader in his community, Stoneman served in numerous leadership roles and earned several awards for his involvement with the Virginia Society of Association Executives, Jamestown 4-H Center Board of Directors, Varina Episcopal Church, and Boys Scouts of America.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Richmond.

Stoneman is part of Varina Farms, a 400-year-old family row crop operation in Henrico County, that grows corn and soybeans.

Stoneman and his wife, Peggy, live in Varina, Virginia. They have one daughter and one son as well as a grandson.
