Photo of Tennessee State Executive Director, Mike MayfieldMike Mayfield was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) for Tennessee in February 2020.

Mayfield spent over three decades serving as county executive director for FSA in Giles County, Tennessee. In this role, he implemented federal farm programs at the county level and served as a trainer for incoming county executive directors. Prior to his career with FSA, he was a salesperson for Ralston Purina Company, a manager of a local feed store, and a chemical salesperson and compliance specialist for Elanco Chemical Company.

He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he earned a degree in animal science. Mayfield is active in his family’s diversified livestock and row crop operation, Mayfield Angus Farm. The operation has evolved over the years to cover approximately 1,000 acres. They predominantly raise registered Angus and commercial cattle. In addition to the livestock operation, they produce corn, soybeans, wheat, oats and alfalfa hay. In 2016, the farm operation was recognized as Giles County Conservation Farmers of the Year.

He currently serves on the Giles County Beef Marketing Alliance Board, an organization that collectively markets feeder calves in the county. He has also served on the Giles County School Board for 10 years.

Mayfield is a native of Pulaski, Tennessee, where he and his family currently reside on the family farm. He was an avid exhibitor of Angus cattle throughout his youth, a tradition that he and his wife, Susan, passed on to their children - Will, Meredith, and Ben.
