Nivin Elgohary was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the Virginia USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in November 2017.

Born in Egypt, Elgohary graduated from Old Dominion University with dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science.

Elgohary began her career in consumer finance and joined the federal government in 1999 as a loan specialist with the USDA Rural Utilities Service Electric Program. She later became the assistant administrator for the Rural Utilities Service Electric Program, where she served as a member of the Senior Executive Service leading policy for programs affecting 42 million electric consumers across the country.

Prior to her appointment, Elgohary worked for CoBank, where she spearheaded a newly created bank initiative as the vice president for public private partnerships and was later promoted to senior vice president of electric, water and community facilities.

Elgohary is the recipient of the USDA Under Secretary’s Organizational Transformation Award in 2008 for Rural Development and the Transformation Award from the Electric Cooperative of South Carolina in 2014.

She and her husband, Mark, reside in Stafford and have three children, Andrew, David and Gina.
