USDA Announces Availability of Low-Interest Physical Loss Loans for Producers Affected by Natural Disasters

Stakeholder Notification

Physical loss loans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.

Triggering Disaster #1

Impacted Area: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri  

Triggering Disaster: Tornadoes, Winds, and Flooding that occurred during April 2, 2025, through April 6, 2025

Application Deadline: April 20, 2026

Primary Counties Eligible: 

  • Illinois: Alexander, Clark, Gallatin, Hardin, Iroquois, Johnson, Pulaski, Union and White        

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

  • Illinois: Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Edgar, Edwards, Ford, Hamilton, Jackson, Jasper, Kankakee, Massac, Pope, Saline, Vermilion, Wabash, Wayne, and Williamson

  • Indiana: Benton, Gibson, Newton, Posey, Sullivan, and Vigo

  • Kentucky: Ballard, Crittenden, Livingston, McCracken, and Union

  • Missouri: Cape Girardeau, Mississippi, Perry, and Scott

Application Deadline: April 20, 2026

  • Illinois: Clay and Henry

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

  • Illinois: Bureau, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Knox, Marion, Mercer, Richland, Rock Island, Stark, Wayne, and Whiteside

Triggering Disaster #3

Impacted Area: Illinois

Triggering Disaster: Tornado that occurred on May 16, 2025

Application Deadline: April 20, 2026

Primary Counties Eligible: 

  • Illinois: Williamson

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

  • Illinois: Franklin, Jackson, Johnson, Saline, and Union
