  1. USDA Extends Deadline for Seafood Trade Relief Program

    WASHINGTON, Dec. 3, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced a one-month extension to the signup period for the Seafood Trade Relief Program, which supports the U.S. seafood industry and fishermen impacted by retaliatory tariffs from foreign governments. Fishermen can now signup for the program through January 15, 2021.

    As precautionary health measures are put in effect nationwide to reduce the spread of coronavirus, the USDA is taking steps to ensure the safety of its employees and customers. The agencies of the Farm Production and Conservation mission area, including Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Risk Management Agency (RMA), have been closely monitoring the situation.

  3. Final Rule Published for Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program

    The final rule for the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP), administered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency, was published in the Federal Register on March 2, 2020. As required by the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, this rule implements changes to NAP, making buy-up coverage levels available for 2019 and future years, increasing service fees, and extending the service fee waiver and premium reduction to eligible veterans. It also includes the changes to the payment limitation and native sod provisions and clarifies when NAP coverage is available for crops when certain crop insurance is available under the Federal Crop Insurance Act.

  4. USDA Now Issuing Safety Net Program Payments to Producers of Pulse and Minor Oilseed Crops

    Dec. 4, 2019 - USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now processing 2018 Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) payments for certain pulse and minor oilseed crops. If the applicable covered commodity met payment triggers and the farm and producer met eligibility requirements, then payments will be made for the following covered commodities - large and small chickpeas, sunflower seed, mustard seed, rapeseed, safflowers, crambe, sesame seed, and flaxseed.

    Nov. 12, 2019 - USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now processing 2018 Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) payments for seed cotton and long and medium grain rice.

  6. USDA Extends Deadline for Producers to Enroll in Conservation Stewardship Program Grassland Conservation Initiative

    WASHINGTON, October 23, 2019 – USDA is extending the deadline to November 8, 2019, for eligible agriculture producers to enroll in the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) Grassland Conservation Initiative, which was created by the 2018 Farm Bill. The original deadline was October 25, 2019. This program is available to producers with base acreage that has been in grass or grasslands over a nine-year period, rather than planted with commodity crops.

  9. Dairy Margin Coverage Program Deadline Extended!

    Dairy producers have an additional week to enroll in Farm Service Agency's DMC program. Signup now ends on Sept. 27. Margin payments have triggered for each month from January through July. Dairy producers who elect higher coverage levels could be eligible for payments for all seven months. Under certain levels, the amount paid to dairy farmers will exceed the cost of the premium
