USDA Offers Annual Installment Deferral Option for Farm Storage Facility Loan Borrowers

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6, 2020 – To assist Farm Storage Facility Loan (FSFL) borrowers experiencing financial hardship from the pandemic and other challenges in production agriculture, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is offering a one-time annual installment payment deferral option. No fees or prepayment penalties apply for borrowers who choose this FSFL loan flexibility option.

USDA Opens Dairy Indemnity Payment Program Signup to Assist with Livestock Losses due to Contamination

Dairy producers in New Mexico can now apply to receive a payment for loss of dairy cows because of contamination, including from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), through the Dairy Indemnity Payment Program (DIPP). USDA updated DIPP by authorizing indemnification of contaminated cows to address long term milk contaminations in December 2021.  

USDA Invests Approximately $11.5 Million in Composting and Food Waste Reduction Projects in 23 States, Including Wisconsin

MADISON, January 29, 2024 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing approximately $11.5 million in 38 cooperative agreements that support innovative, scalable waste management plans to reduce and divert food waste from landfills. This includes three projects in Wisconsin.

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 12, 2020 – Agricultural producers who have not yet completed their 2019 crop year elections for and enrollment in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs must schedule an appointment to do so with their local USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) by Monday, March 16.
