The Farm Service Agency (FSA) offers these low-interest loans to agricultural producers who incurred losses due to recent natural disasters. Approval is limited to applicants who suffered severe physical losses only, including the loss of buildings and livestock. Applications are due by Dec. 9, 2020.

Jackson, MS, April 14, 2020 — Mississippi agricultural producers who lost property due to recent natural disasters may be eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) physical loss loans. The Farm Service Agency (FSA) offers these low-interest loans to agricultural producers who incurred losses due to recent natural disasters. Approval is limited to applicants who suffered severe physical losses only, including the loss of buildings and livestock. Applications are due by Dec. 9, 2020. 

“Mississippi’s hardworking ag producers feed our neighbors, the nation and the world,” said State Executive Director Robert Carson. “When they suffer losses because of extreme weather, helping them get back on their feet is important. We encourage those affected to reach out to their local USDA Service Center to apply for these emergency loans.” 

Flash Flooding

Physical loss loans are available to eligible agricultural producers in Attala County who suffered losses due to flash flooding that occurred Feb. 13 through Feb. 20, 2020. 

Producers in the contiguous Mississippi counties of Carroll, Choctaw, Holmes, Leake, Madison, Montgomery, Neshoba, Winston, and Yazoo, are also eligible to apply for emergency loans. 

Excessive Rain, Flash Flooding and Flooding

Physical loss loans are available to eligible agricultural producers in Copiah County who suffered losses due to excessive rain, flash flooding and flooding that occurred Feb. 10 through Feb. 17, 2020. 

Producers in the contiguous Mississippi counties of Claiborne, Hinds, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Rankin, and Simpson, are also eligible to apply for emergency loans. 

Flooding

Physical loss loans are available to eligible agricultural producers in Marion County who suffered losses due to flooding that occurred Feb. 20 through March 4, 2020. 

Producers in the contiguous Mississippi counties of Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Lawrence, Pearl River, and Walthall, along with Washington Parish, Louisiana, are also eligible to apply for emergency loans. 

Physical loss loans can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay
