Kurt Blomgren was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Minnesota in May 2025.

Prior to his appointment, Blomgren served on the Minnesota FSA State Committee. He has also served as chairperson and member of the Watonwan FSA County Committee.

For 27 years, Blomgren has been a member of the Minnesota Farm Bureau. He has served on the Watonwan County Farm Bureau board of directors, served for three years on the Minnesota Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee and was a member of the state resolutions committee focused on policy for legislative review.

Blomgren is a fourth-generation family farmer and operates Blomgren Family Farms, a diversified crop and livestock operation, with his son, Vance. They grow corn and soybeans and raise beef cattle and swine.

He is a volunteer firefighter for the Butterfield Fire Department and served on the Butterfield Township Board. Blomgren is passionate about agriculture and mentors local urban youth with 4-H livestock projects and welcomes youth to visit his farm as part of “ag in the classroom” curriculum.

Blomgren earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from the University of Minnesota – Waseca.

Blomgren lives in Butterfield, Minnesota and has one daughter and two sons. In his free time, he enjoys attending sporting events.
