About
Mike Mayfield was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Tennessee in May 2025.
Mayfield returns to FSA where he previously served as the state executive director for Tennessee during President Trump’s first term. Prior to this appointment, he served as an FSA county executive director for 35 years in Giles County, Tennessee. In this role, he implemented federal farm programs at the county level and served as a trainer for incoming county executive directors. During his career, Mayfield served on several different task forces responsible for developing and implementing program policy, including contributing to two farm bills.
Mayfield has served as chairman of the Giles County Beef Marketing Alliance, was a Tennessee State Delegate at the American Angus Association Annual Business Conference, as well as a district vice president of the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association Board. He was also a Giles County Farm Bureau board member and secretary/treasurer of the Giles County Cattlemen’s Association.
He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he earned a degree in animal science.
Mayfield is a native of Pulaski, Tennessee, where he operates Mayfield Angus with his family. They raise commercial and registered Angus cattle as well as row crops. They have been named Outstanding Angus Family twice by the Tennessee Angus Association. In 2016, the farm operation was recognized as Giles County Conservation Farmers of the Year.
Mayfield was an avid exhibitor of Angus cattle throughout his youth, a tradition that he and his wife, Susan, passed on to their three children. In his spare time, Mayfield enjoys golfing, hunting, going to the lake, and spending time with his grandchildren.
