Roger Chase was appointed by the Trump Administration as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in South Dakota in June 2025. 

Prior to his appointment, Chase served as a representative in the South Dakota State Legislature for eight years, where he was chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for two years. He was recognized by the South Dakota Soybean Association and South Dakota Cattlemen as a Friend in Agriculture. During his legislative career, Chase was proud to promote agriculture, conservation, and infrastructure development throughout the state. 

Chase has been involved in agriculture his entire life. Chase and his wife, Michelle, farm with their oldest son, Derek, on the same land that Chase grew up on near Huron, South Dakota. The family operation is a diversified grain and beef cow/calf and feeder cattle operation that grows corn, soybeans and alfalfa. 

For 37 years, Chase has been involved in the real estate business. In 2023, Chase was named Realtor of the Year and in 2008, his real estate office received the Mayor’s Award of Excellence. 

He has been involved in the Beadle County Commission for seven years and served as chairman for three of those years. He has also been involved in the South Dakota Farm Bureau for 30 years and served as county director for seven years. 

Chase earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management and finance from Huron University. 

Chase and Michelle have three children and five grandchildren. He enjoys hunting and spending time outdoors on the farm.
