Ronald Garrett was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in North Carolina in May 2025.

Prior to his appointment, Garrett served as a county executive director for FSA for 34 years. He started his career with FSA as a county operations trainee in 1991 and worked in several county offices after completing his training. The majority of his career was spent serving producers in Northampton County.

Garrett has received numerous awards from the National Association of State and County Office Employees for service to his community, FSA and agriculture.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural business management from North Carolina State University.

He is involved with Baptist on Mission and the Baptist Men’s program at his local church.

Garrett grew up on a tobacco and soybean farm in Durham, North Carolina.

Garrett and his wife, Tracy, have been married for 33 years and have three grown children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and cycling with his local cycling group.
