About

Wendy Wilton was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Vermont in May 2025.

Wilton returns to FSA where she previously served as the state executive director for Vermont during President Trump’s first term. Most recently, Wilton served at the New England Municipal Resource Center providing software support and consulting services.

Prior to her first Trump Administration appointment in 2017, she was elected treasurer of the City of Rutland for five consecutive terms. She was the first woman to serve in this position and she led several operational improvement projects, including restructuring loan debt, converting the city accounting system, regular account reconciliation, improving financial reporting and developing a proposal to address pension underfunding. She was honored by the Vermont Municipal Clerks’ & Treasurers’ Association as the Treasurer of the Year in 2012.

Prior to her work as a municipal official, she worked as a senior business advisor for the Vermont Small Business Development Center and as a bank loan officer in the Rutland region.

In 2004, Wilton was elected to the Vermont Senate, where she served on the Senate Agriculture, Judiciary and Education Committees. She received an award from the Vermont Farm Bureau in 2005 for advocating for Vermont farmers regarding land use policy.

Wilton and her husband, Chuck, reside in Milton, Vermont. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing and hiking in the Green Mountains of Vermont.
