About

Arthur Keyes was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Alaska in June 2025.

Keyes owns and operates Glacier Valley Farms in Palmer, Alaska, where he grows a variety of specialty crops including onions, zucchini, cucumbers and tomatoes.

Prior to his appointment, Keyes served as the director of the Division of Agriculture for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources from 2016 through 2019. He developed the “$5 Alaska Grown Challenge” which helps to drive revenue throughout the state to support Alaska’s farmers. This initiative has been replicated across the country and won the 2018 North American Agricultural Marketing Excellence award. Keyes is a lifelong entrepreneur who enjoys developing innovative ways to market Alaskan agriculture. He has created and operated multiple farmers markets in the state by forging partnerships with other producers and even oil companies to bring Alaskan agriculture to local farmers markets.

Keyes has served in leadership roles on multiple boards at the local, state and national level including serving as vice president of the Matanuska Electric Association and president of the Mat-Su Farm Bureau. He also served on the Palmer Soil and Water Conservation District Board, Alaska Farmland Trust Board, Alaska Farm Bureau Board and the National Onion Board.
