About
David Wayne was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Kentucky in May 2025.
Prior to his appointment, Wayne served as county executive director for the Taylor County FSA Office. He joined FSA in 2019 as a county operations trainee and his first county executive director position was in the Christian County office.
Wayne previously served as director of the Division of Environmental Service for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture where he administered Kentucky’s pesticide regulatory programs and managed staff across the state. He also served the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as a roadside environment district administrator in northern Kentucky and before that worked for the University of Kentucky where he was a research technician for the College of Agriculture’s Horticulture Department.
Wayne grew up on a tobacco and beef cattle farm in Taylor County, Kentucky. He is a fifth-generation farmer raising beef cattle with his brother and father on the family farm. He also has experience with fruit, vegetable and ornamental production from his time at the University of Kentucky Horticulture Research Farm.
Wayne earned his Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource conservation and management with a minor in soil science from the University of Kentucky.
Wayne is originally from Campbellsville, Kentucky. He now lives on the family farm with his wife, Lindsay, and their two children. Lindsay is a high school agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. The Wayne family is proud to be part of the agriculture community in Taylor County.
